Independent Quality Assessment
The industry probably needs to look at establishing an independent body that would allow clients to get an assessment of the quality of a translation. Just an idea to help improve the transparency of our services.

establishing an independent body is fine.
however, there is currently no algorithm or model for assessing the quality of a translation beyond those formal errors that immediately meet the eye.
current quality assessment metrics have not even come close to assessing questions of style. here, sound research is urgently needed…
but who’s gonna do it? my personal experience with academic institutions is that they’d rather develop yet another detached translation theory than do research that informs the practice of translation…
